Genesis 1:2-5
“The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.”
John 1:1
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John 1:14
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
The Message
The purpose of this message is to reveal that God’s Word is more trustworthy, more life-giving, and more necessary than the food we put in our mouths. Food can strengthen the body, but only the Word strengthens the soul, leads the spirit, and sustains life.
I want to share three core points with you today:
1. The Word is Our Source of Life We all know that the Word is our source of life. Without the Word, we have no breath. Just as God spoke light into the darkness of the world in Genesis, His Word brings light to the darkness of our lives.
2. The Word Carries God’s Breath, Power, and Authority Every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God is alive, active, and carries authority. Without the Word, we are nothing. When we choose the Word, we choose God’s breath in our situation. For every situation on the face of the earth, we must call on the Holy Spirit through His Word. The same Word that created the world sustains your world today. Without that Word, there would be no existence—no sea, no land, no water. The Word you receive becomes the life you live.
3. The Word Protects, Directs, and Strengthens Us in Temptation Jesus resisted Satan not by arguing, but by Scripture. When the Word is in your hand, temptation loses its strength. The Word becomes your shield; it shields us from all harm and danger. You can pass any test and win every battle with the Word of God—not by might, nor by power, but by His Spirit.
Conclusion
Beloved, only the Word of God can keep us alive in every season. Food fills the stomach, but only the Word can fill the soul. Bread will sustain you for the day, but the Word will sustain you for a lifetime. Without the Word, there is no light.
So today, I call every listener to hear, and every heart to receive. Choose the Living Word. Stand on it, trust in it, and live in it.
Father God, I give You praise, I give You thanks, and I glorify Your name. Let this Word pass on to my brothers and sisters—that they store it, eat it, drink it, and believe it. Amen.
