In a world that feels like it is constantly shifting beneath our feet, many are left asking: Where is the stability? We see the effects of sin and confusion in the media from morning until night, and even as believers, it is easy to feel overwhelmed. But there is a powerful promise that remains unbroken: God’s unwavering love and a covenant of peace that transcends life’s earthquakes.
The Unshakeable Foundation
The anchor for our soul is found in Isaiah 54:10:
“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed, says the Lord, who has compassion on you.”
Even when everything around us is falling apart and no man can fix it, we have a God whose kingdom is unshakeable.
Pillar 1: Expect the Chaos
We often want life to be smooth and calm all the time, but chaos is an inevitable part of the human experience. The Word tells us in 1 Peter 4:12 not to be surprised at the “fiery ordeal” as if something strange were happening to us.
Chaos is actually an opportunity for growth and focus. It shifts our perspective from our own pain to the unchanging power of a compassionate God.
Pillar 2: Ground Yourself in Faith
Faith does not happen by accident. According to Romans 10:17, faith comes by one way: hearing the Word of God. If we are not “soaked” in the Word, we cannot hear His voice above the noise of the world.
When you are grounded in faith, you become like a tree planted by rivers of water. No matter what the season—sickness, addiction, or confusion—your leaf will not wither, and you will remain green because your roots are in the Prince of Peace.
Pillar 3: Trust the Unbreakable Covenant
God’s peace is not like the world’s peace; it is an unceasing, unconditional gift available at all times. We must live by Proverbs 3:5-6: trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
A covenant is a total commitment. Just as God made a covenant with Abraham, He has made a covenant with you. He is too faithful to fail you and too loving to leave you halfway through your storm.
Pillar 4: Abide in His Presence
When the world gets dark, we need the “Forever Friend”—the Holy Spirit. Jesus invites us in Matthew 11:28: “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”.
Abiding means staying connected to the Vine. Outside of Christ, there is only chaos and strife. But in Him, there is a dwelling place and a security that the world can never touch.
The Takeaway
Remember these four unshakeable truths to carry with you this evening:
- View chaos as an opportunity for spiritual growth.
- Depend on the foundation of God’s unshakeable love.
- Receive the gift of peace that is available at all times.
- Shift your focus from your own pain to His compassionate power.
Even when the mountains shake, His perfect peace remains with us. Amen.
